CREATIVE BIRTH:
ACTIVE CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION
A dynamic and experiential class that examines labor support techniques that really work, explores the joys and challenges of labor, and trains couples how to labor and give birth at home and/or in the hospital.
I work from the fundamental belief that labor is a natural process, and help women achieve a birth free from interference. We will also cover how to consciously use intervention when needed, and what you might be faced with in and out of the hospital.
In the course of the class, you will participate in unique and revealing exercises like creating birth art, stream of consciousness writing, visualization, and yoga! Creative Birth emphasizes hands on tools and practice in class. The only videos you watch are on your own, NOT during class time! We balance straight facts and information, with fun exploration and individual attention!
Most importantly, the community that is formed during your class will remain a source of connection and support during and after your birth.

Some topics covered:

Prenatal and Labor Support Techniques
-prenatal nutrition
-exploring your individual fears and letting them go
-breastfeeding
-optimal birth positions
-labor support: what women need in labor
-massage and acupressure for labor comfort and facilitation
-how to prepare your partner for natural childbirth's sights, sounds and challenges.
-hypnosis
-alternative pain management.

Labor and Care Providers
-stages of labor
-normal labor progress, labor dystocia (stalled labor), and how to get labor back on track
-alternative methods of augmentation and induction
-writing your birth preferences. (or birth plan)
-how to talk with your care providers before your birth
-choosing a birthplace
-communicating with hospital staff or midwives during your labor

Post Partum

-a gentle approach to sleep and scheduling in the first six weeks
-postpartum care and depression prevention
-babyproofing your marriage

It's a balanced, down to earth, non-judgmental class, where each individual's desire for their birth is honored and celebrated.

I hope you will join us!
